You can save the following device data in external files:
● the configuration data of the SCALANCE W744
● the content of the log table
● the firmware of the SCALANCE W744
You can transfer the following data from external files to the SCALANCE W744:
● the configuration data of the SCALANCE W744
● the firmware of the SCALANCE W744
For a SCALANCE W744 certificates for the client and for the server can also be
downloaded and stored. For further information on certificates, please refer to the
System Manual Basics of Industrial Wireless LAN.
Note
When you download the configuration data to a SCALANCE W744, a restart is
performed automatically so that the new data is adopted correctly. The device can
no longer be reached using the old IP address if the downloaded configuration
data contains a new IP address.
Reusing Configuration Data
Saving and reading in configuration data reduces the effort if several SCALANCE
W744 devices have the same configuration and when IP addresses are obtained
over DHCP. Save the configuration data on a PC after you have configured a
SCALANCE W744. Download this file to all other SCALANCE W744 devices you
want to configure. If necessary, you may need to assign an IP address to this
SCALANCE W744 first using the Primary Setup Tool.
How to Load or Save Data over HTTP
1. Specify the name of the file from which the data will be taken or where the data
will be saved in the relevant text box for the configuration data or firmware.
As an alternative, you can also use a file selection dialog that opens after you
click the Browse... button.
2. Start the save function by clicking the Save button. Start the load from file func-
tion by clicking the Load button.
